Frequently asked questions.

What does ANDA mean?

ANDA is a Spanish verb. He/she/they walks, you walk. From the verb andar, to go, to be.
1. To move along on foot.
2. To go on foot for exercise or pleasure
3. To be in a certain state

What do you recommend to seam seal the tarp ridge line?

I recommend using a silicone tent sealant, like Gear Aid’s “Seam Grip + SIL” to seam seal the ridge line.

Does the entire tarp need to be waterproofed?

Nope, just the ridge line along the stitches. The tarp fabric is 1.1 oz 20 denier ECO SilPoly ripstop fabric that is coated with a silicone/PU layer on both sides of the fabric and is waterproof.

Does the bivy need to be seam sealed?

No. The bottom fabric is the same 1.1 oz 20 denier ECO SilPoly ripstop fabric that is coated with a silicone/PU layer on both sides of the fabric and is waterproof. If your campsite has that much water, you are laying in a pond or a stream and should move.

Is there condensation with a tarp and bivy?

Yes, just like there is condensation with a tent. Any conditions that are warm, wet, humid and otherwise cause condensation inside any tent walls, will cause a similar condition with a tarp and bivy.

What poles do you recommend?

The best poles are the ones you have with you. I prefer to use trekking poles - 3 piece, telescoping, adjustable trekking poles, but if you are resourceful then fixed length tent poles, trees, down tree limbs, sticks, rocks, boulders, etc can all be used to pitch your tarp.

When will “X” be available?

I’ll do my best to update the website with upcoming gear releases and what I am currently sewing. I’m the designer, tester, sewer, manager, shipping & receiving department, customer service representative, marketing director, in-house barista, DJ and more.

What size bivy do you recommend if I am a side sleeper?

Wider is better.

Do I need a ground sheet under my bivy?

Do you prefer a ground sheet under your tent? If so, then yes. Do you prefer to clear your campsite of debris and accept the occasional pinhole that can be repaired with a piece of gear tape? Then no.

Is the bivy waterproof? Is the bivy DWR treated?

The bottom fabric is waterproof. The top fabric is DWR treated - so it is water resistant, wind resistant but also breathable. The Noseeum mesh is neither waterproof nor windproof…but highly breathable.
